Breakthrough Gym Plateaus With This 60-Second Workout

Every weightlifter, bodybuilder and fitness athlete has or will encounter the dreaded plateau at some point in their gym training. You're still showing up regularly, still putting in 110% effort every workout, but progress has STOPPED... So let's take a look at why it happens, then look at a workout you'll want to try to get past this roadblock.
The human body is one of the most complicated, efficient organisms in existence. Your body is constantly evolving and refining itself for maximum efficiency and results. It uses fat for energy when it's not getting the right nutrients at the right time in the right quantities, so it tries to store as much fat as it thinks you may need down the road - all based on what you give it and how much energy you expend daily. (Remember, a calorie is a measure of ENERGY, not weight or mass.)
On the other side of the equation, it knows that muscle consumes more energy than any other element in your body, so it tries to limit the amount of muscle on your body to just exactly enough to get you through the day and no more. This is why the muscles you've built in the gym start to erode as soon as you stop weightlifting, even though fat seems to hang on forever.
So when your weightlifting stalls and you hit that plateau it's almost always because your body believes you've got enough muscle already - or at least enough to handle the stresses you place it under each day. Perhaps you've been using the same routine for too long, or going between routines that are too similar. Or maybe you haven't been increasing the amount of weight you're moving during each workout enough - insufficient increases in total workload placed on the body.
But it can also be a lot more complicated. If you've been lifting weights for years it's going to take that much more to keep adding muscle to your body when it's already carrying more muscle than your frame was designed for. Take a compound lift like squats or deadlifts. There are a dozen or more muscles involved in each rep, ligaments and tendons at every joint that have to participate, plus the bone strength and bone density need to be up to the task of supporting all those forces without breaking. Oh yes - and don't forget the electrical impulses that must run unimpeded between each muscle cell and your central nervous system. Or the hormones your body releases when under stress - try working out with no adrenaline, testosterone or endorphins in your system and see how far you get. And your endurance during workouts is also dependent on stored oxygen - both in the lungs and in every muscle...
A very complex system indeed! And the bad news for weightlifters, bodybuilders and fitness athletes is that your performance is limited by the weakest link in that whole process! Try to push too far past that weak link's limit and you'll learn the displeasure of muscle pulls, muscle tears, hernias, rhabdomyolysis, etc. So it's not as simple as 'work out longer' or 'use heavier weights' - often a plateau is reached because you can't do either right now. So now what?
The 60-Second Workout
Don't get all excited here - 60 seconds isn't the total workout time on this system but rather the length of each set. You already know that everything you've tried so far isn't getting you out of the rut your workouts are in, so give this a try for the next 3 - 4 weeks. Pick ONE exercise per bodypart and do a full-body workout 3 times a week on non-consecutive days - Monday, Wednesday & Friday, for example.
For each exercise you want to do 3 60-second sets with a 30 - 40 second break in between. If you're training with a partner, do your 3 sets then have them do theirs - don't use the usual back & forth sets as the break between your sets would have to be at least the 60 seconds for them to do their set, and you want to keep your breaks under 40 seconds.
Here's where this system is counter-intuitive - don't bother to count reps and don't worry about tempo (as long as you're not breaking form or using momentum to help out). Just pick up the weights and rep out for 60 seconds, rest for 30, rep out for 60, etc. The weight should be light enough you have no trouble getting in the first 60 second set but heavy enough you have to fight to get those last 5 reps in on the 3rd set. You'll know you're doing it right if your muscles are bulging and the pump is creating a really nice burn deep in the muscle you're working.
Even for most gym rats, 60 seconds is longer than your normal set. You'll probably be doing between 20 and 40 reps per set, which is a higher rep scheme than you're probably used to. Each muscle group will have to increase its endurance, yet your overall system gets a bit of a recuperative rest because the entire workout is over in 35 - 40 minutes (up to an hour if you're training with a partner). But if it seems like this would be too easy a workout then try it for a week and get back to me on how easy it was for you... ;-)
How does this help you smash through the plateaus? First, it fills the muscles with far more blood than they're used to holding. Since blood is the transport for both the oxygen, nutrients and hormones feeding the muscles and the waste materials like lactic acid coming out of the muscles, you're creating a nice 'spa bath' environment to give the muscles optimal conditions for health and recovery.
And since the weights will, of necessity, be lighter than you would otherwise be using this cycle will give your ligaments and tendons a bit of a breather, helping them recover fully while still being stretched and moved regularly. The lighter load will also give your nervous system an increased chance of fully recovering from the months or years of hell you've put it through.
Two 'safeguards' are built into this system to minimize the possibility of losing muscle mass during the cycle as well - first, you'll only be doing this for 3 - 4 weeks and second, you're working the full body 3 times per week. Assuming you eat clean with plenty of protein and get sufficient rest each night, by the end of the cycle your body should be back in optimal condition, have reached homeostasis, and be ready for an energetic return to building muscle mass for you.
Oh - and I haven't overlooked your mind-muscle connection either... At the end of each bodypart, or at least the end of each workout, spend a couple of minutes posing in the mirrors. It'll do both your self-confidence and your subconscious good to see you looking so pumped and muscular!

Building Beach Bunnies and Buff Bodies - Start NOW!

Beach bunnies and guys with buff bodies love summer - the chance to strip down to their bathing suits and frolic in the surf or just relax on the beach. People who aren't in good shape - not so much...
At that's what makes RIGHT NOW so important. Modern science, for all its accomplishments, still hasn't come up with that magic pill or potion that will give you a great body overnight, so you can't expect to get into perfect beach shape in a week or two. Instead you need to start now to ensure you've got that perfect physique next time summer rolls around - even if it's summer already. In that case it's too late for this year but you can still prevent next summer from being a disappointing rerun.
Think about it for a minute - you didn't get into your current shape overnight - it probably took years to end up the way you are right now. And chances are pretty good you haven't yet built up the willpower to get into and stay in top form, right? So it's important you start now, when you still have time to overcome the occasional slip-up in your diet or exercise regimes... You've been promising yourself for years that you'd get back into beach shape, and it's time to make good on that promise.
Don't start with any radical changes because you'll find them too hard to stick to and you could even do yourself real physical and emotional harm if you make sudden changes to your eating habits or exercise levels. Instead, start with small steps - even the longest journey starts with but a single step.
Here's how to get started, whether your goal is to be a svelte beach bunny or a buff-bodied beach bum...
Adjusting Your Diet...
Most people consider 'diet' to be one of the most foul four-letter words, indicative of near-starvation and denied pleasures. In this instance, however, it refers to your daily nutritional intake in general. If you're like most people, right now you couldn't say how many calories you eat or what the carbohydrate - protein - fat breakdown is from your daily intake. So before you start cutting back or cutting anything out of your eating habits, start a food diary. For the next two weeks eat as you normally would and write down everything you put into your mouth each day.
Pick up a food counts book or use an online calculator to see how many calories you're taking in on average, and what the nutrient breakdown is. Be totally honest here - no one is going to see it but you.
Once you have that 2-week record and know what your diet is like now, start making changes to your diet, small ones you can live with, to reduce the overall caloric intake and move closer to a breakdown like 40% protein, 35% carbohydrates and 25% fat. Avoid simple carbs where you can, and keep your fat intake to healthy sources like Omega-3. There are plenty of places online to research these topics more fully if you're not familiar with the concepts.
Getting More Exercise...
Obviously females looking for a beach bunny bodies don't want big bulky muscles, while males generally don't despair of being bigger and more muscular. There's good news for both - nature has pre-set your bodies hormonally in such a way that you can both get your desired look using the same workout! But as with diet, start off making slow additions to your daily activity level. Start walking more and driving less. Don't sit when you can stand. Add in some gym time, either in a commercial gym or by starting your own home gym collection of weights. If you don't have a personal trainer get one, if you can afford it, or at least watch some of the better workout videos on YouTube and learn the correct form for each exercise. Start with a workout and weights appropriate to your current state, and work to improve from there.
And by the way - yes you DO have time to work out and get in shape... Every one of the men and women whose bodies you admire (or are jealous of) have the same 168 hours a week you do, so it's all a matter of adjusting your priorities - maybe even (gasp) turning off the television now and then. And any time you feel your motivation slipping, think back to how you felt on the beach last year, and how you felt when you saw those beach bunnies and buff bodies there - you already know which group you want to be part of next summer!

Lifting Weights For That Perfect V-Taper Back

When lifting weights for bodybuilding or fitness athletes, male or female, one of the main goals is building that perfect body image. And while men and women usually differ in their desired final look, both want that sexy v-taper to their back...
Achieving that look isn't just the result of building a bigger back though. Three different sets of muscles play a role in building a v-taper appearance - your obliques, your latissimus dorsi (lats) and your medial deltoid muscles. In other words you want a narrow waist, wider shoulders and a nice sweep to your back to join the two.
Keeping Your Obliques Narrow
Your obliques are the muscles that run down the outside of your waist just above the hips. Working the obliques is done with twists, either seated with a bar across your shoulders or with kettlebells. The problem here is that they respond just like any other muscle - the heavier the weight you use the bigger the muscle grows. Normally that's what you want from your workouts, but with obliques the bigger they get the wider your waist is and the blockier your appearance.
Widening your waist will detract heavily from the appearance of a v-taper and lessen the impact of your overall figure. That doesn't mean you can't work your obliques though - just stick to either indirect training for them from the other exercises you do or do your seated twists using a broom handle instead of a weighted bar.
Building Your Lat Sweep
Your lats provide that nice sweep from your waist to your shoulders, and the more you work them the better and wider your v-taper will look. To build their width, pick exercises that stretch them fully and force you to pull your arms back down towards your side. Using an overhead pulley to do seated lat pulldowns is the most obvious - after all, that's why it's called LAT pulldowns.
You can also add to the width of your lats with one-arm rows done on a weight bench. Instead of using a straight up-and-down movement for your reps, start at the bottom with the weight further forward, in line with your head. As you pull the weight up use a sweep to bring it up beside your hip then lower it back down as low and as far forward as you can safely stretch. As always, keep your torso parallel to the bench throughout the exercise and avoid the tendency to let the back roll side to side.
Wider Shoulders To Complete The Look
OK, obviously you can't actually widen your shoulder joint or safely move the shoulder joints further apart, but you sure can pack a lot more muscle onto your shoulders to give them a wider appearance. Anyone serious about lifting weights will want to build all 3 shoulder muscles - front, medial and rear deltoids - evenly, but for building a v-taper it's the medial or outside head that makes the most difference.
Compound exercises like upright rows and overhead presses will build the medial head, and be sure to use side dumbbell raises as the isolation exercise to build your shoulder width. Often referred to as lateral raises, these are the only exercise that focus almost entirely on the medial delts - just be careful not to raise your arms above parallel at the top of each rep as this can damage your shoulders' rotator cuffs. Don't overdo the weight, either - be sure you can finish each rep in strict form and opt for more reps, at least 12 - 15 reps per set.
Beyond training those 3 areas, be sure you're not carrying extra bodyfat around your middle as that will also detract from your v-taper. While that should go without saying, it's not unusual to see novice bodybuilders and fitness athletes still sporting those tell-tale 'muffin tops', so be sure you're not letting a few extra pounds of fat diminish your hard-won physique.
Hit the weights hard every time you're in the gym and enjoy the impact of your great v-taper back on the beach next summer!

Small Steps And Consistency Are The Keys To Reclaiming - And Maintaining - Your Fitness

They tell you to hit the gym hard and heavy to build muscle mass - but as soon as you stop that lean muscle mass starts to dwindle away. You watch what you eat to lose weight, but as soon as you go back to your normal nutritional habits the weight comes right back. You've sacrificed so much over the years with almost nothing to show for it... So what went wrong?
The biggest issue was your mindset... You saw lifting weights to build muscles, or dieting to lose weight and burn fat as finite processes - you had them as short-term goals you could accomplish and abandon. So now you have to learn to look at it differently, and realize that health and fitness come from your overall lifestyle - it's a marathon, not a sprint.
The good news is that it's not going to take Herculean efforts on your part to reclaim your fitness - not even to maintain it. Instead, small steps each day will build the success habits you need to get back in shape and stay in shape. Remember that your body is very forgiving and will respond positively no matter how old you are - even if you're already over 100! Just understand that the older you are the longer it might take, and the further away you currently are from top health the smaller each step might have to be at first.
If you've been sitting at work all day and mostly sitting around watching TV, playing video games or on the computer nights and weekends, don't suddenly start trying to run miles or jump into a full-on heavy weight lifting routine - not only would that be counter-productive, it could even kill you (heart attack and stroke are still the top killers in the western world). Instead, start going for a daily walk, do a light workout at the gym or bodyweight exercises at home or start keeping a food diary and journal what you eat each day. Once that journal has a week or two in it, you'll be able to see where some small changes to your nutrition will start you burning the fat you want to lose.
Don't try to do too much at once - if you're not in the habit, it'll end up like before. Instead, start with just a few changes and stick with them consistently until they're a normal part of your daily routine and then build from there. To build muscle and get stronger, start with a simple workout and, over time, add in more exercises til you're doing a full routine. Once you've been doing a full workout routine for a while, think about increasing the weight you lift on each exercise. If you're looking to lose fat, slowly replace some of the carbs you've been eating with increased protein content. Once you've transitioned to a healthy diet, fine-tune your efforts by adjusting the amount of calories you consume in a day or increasing the amount of energy you expend each day. Again, nothing major, just reasonable tweaks.
Also pay more attention to your rest and stress levels. Your body heals while you sleep, so adjust your schedule as necessary to ensure you're getting 7 hours of sleep a night or more. And try to avoid stressful situations or learn to meditate to help relieve stress. Stress causes the body to release a chemical known as cortisol, which both eats away at your muscles and helps store additional fat. Effective meditation is also said to help lower blood pressure, and high blood pressure is believed to be a major contributor to many heart attacks and strokes. If you think of meditation as something that must be done in Buddha-like contorted yoga poses you'll be pleased to know that you can learn to do it anytime, anywhere and in almost any position.
Fitness - being in good shape and maintaining a healthy bodyweight - can be reclaimed. Yes, it takes a change of your daily habits, but there's very little else you can do that will bring you such powerful results to every aspect of your life. Start making the small changes today and reclaim and maintain your fitness lifestyle starting right now!

Hiprolean X-S High Strength Weight Loss Pills Now Released

This latest weight loss pill as of October 2013 uses the power of thermogenesis - your body's ability to burn fat. Hiprolean increases this process by firing up the fat burning furnace which is 100% hormone free with no traces of ephedra so zero side effects.
Hiprolean X-S gets to work in just 30 minutes, using two of the most powerful weight loss ingredients - GTC (green tea catechins) and raspberry keytones, as are currently branded heavily in the U.S and now across Europe.
Green Tea Catechins:
GTC in short is a natural anti-oxidant recommended for weight loss as it provides the following health and dieting credentials:
1. It's an Anti-Inflammatory
The catechins help relieve the symptoms of these diseases such as diabetes 2, high blood pressure and sore swollen joints which are often brought on by a poor diet through the years.
2. It's an Anti-carcinogenic
Cigarettes contain six lethal carcinogens and catechins potentially help block the cell cycle of cancer cells from developing as a result of these toxins.
3. It's Weight Loss Credentials
It lowers lipid levels in the blood and increases liver metabolism, meaning fats in the liver are broken down faster and more efficiently as opposed to going on to be stored as fat cells.
Raspberry Ketones:
These are quite different, it's the protein Adiponectin that regulates your metabolic rate.
The aroma compound known as Keytone moderates Adiponectin by in effect increasing the rate it regulates metabolism, thus you burn fat faster.
This is why those wanting to buy Hiprolean X-S should be aware that this is almost primarily a revved up fat burner.
However these capsules include Siberian Ginseng, Caffeine, Vitamin B6 and B12 which provide prolonged energy levels, while Bladderwrack will help stimulate and regulate under active thyroid glands.
So Hiprolean X-S's 2 main features would be that:
A: It contributes to normal energy metabolism.
B: Contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue.
Should your daily staple diet depend too much on unhealthy fats and carbs which will both contain glucose (rich sugars) and can be very difficult to break down once they become stored then this high strength fat burner, as reviewed by consumers on the website evolutionslimming.com, ranks well averaging a 4.5 star rating from 5.0.
Hiprolean X-S High Strength Key Pro's:
  • Revs up metabolism
  • Reduces fatigue
  • Anti-Inflammatory
  • Anti-carcinogenic
  • Lowers lipid levels
  • Increases liver metabolism
Hiprolean X-S High Strength Key Con's:
  • Contains caffeine
  • Not suitable for vegetarians as it contains gelatin
  • Not a fat blocker but a fat burner
There are now some excellent new fat burning supplements used to treat aging skin and alleviate joint tension in-one.

You Are The Only Person Who Can Get You To Lose Your Weight!

It is easy to blame other people for things that go wrong in our lives. It really is. When things aren't going the way we'd like them to go, it is much easier to lay the blame on others or on external circumstances or situations outside of our control. Why? Well, taking the blame for things that go wrong or taking ownership of a situation might hurt our egos. Taking the blame might remind us of our limitations and our bad choices. Placing blame on other people or circumstances beyond our control makes us feel better and preserves our ego. Unfortunately, making excuses often means we fail to make progress. If you truly want to lose weight, you have to take full responsibility. This is the first step to making real progress.
Taking responsibility leads to action
When you take responsibility for your weight loss instead of laying blame on your genetics, your childhood or your environment, you take control of your life. Since you are to blame for the situation, your decisions are the cause of your present predicament. Accordingly, you can make other decisions to produce a different outcome. In short, you become the center of the action. You become the prime mover and decision maker for the things that happen in your life instead of a hapless bystander who is caught by outside forces with no power to change things. When you say 'I chose to be in the shape I am in now,' you are basically saying 'I have the power of choice over my life.' If you can choose to be overweight, you can choose to become leaner and healthier. Don't rob yourself of your power to choose by playing the blame game.
What you focus on grows
Once you take responsibility, you can take action. By taking ownership of your situation, you can then focus. The truth is very simple: wherever your focus goes, energy flows. When you are too busy avoiding responsibility or laying blame, your focus is misdirected and your energy is wasted. When you tackle your problems head on and take ownership, you reclaim your power to focus, and you are forced to focus on real solutions. When you focus on losing weight, all your mental power as well as will power is redirected, like a laser light, at your problem. You are then energized to do whatever it takes for however long it takes to get the results you want.
Focus leads to goals
It is easy to say 'I want to lose weight.' Anyone can do this. However, this is a mere wish. When you resolve to stop looking to others for solutions or blame, your renewed focus on your weight problem leads to goal setting. Once you set your goals, your renewed focus will enable you to achieve your daily goals. The more you achieve your daily goals, the better you feel about yourself. The better you feel about yourself, the more you achieve your goals. See how this all works out? It all starts with focus.
As you can see from the process above, the only person who can make you lose weight is you. Wrap your mind around this truth and let its power sink in. You have the power to achieve the ideal weight you want. You just have to give yourself permission to exercise this power.

Powerful And Natural Ways to Lose Fat

Some very safe Fat Burners or 'thermogenics' contain natural extracts and stimulants, they encourage weight loss by using the process of 'thermogenesis', where the core body temperature rises, in turn boosting the metabolic rate. The metabolic rate, as we all know, helps the body to burn off unwanted fat and calories. What fat burners do is they kick-start this process even when one is not exercising, putting the body in high gear even at rest, thus making it a very attractive alternative for people who are hard-pressed for time to exercise or maybe too stressed out to incorporate an exercise-regimen into their daily life.
Of course there are natural fat burning foods like whole grains, brown rice and oatmeal... these are harder for the body to process so the body burns twice as many calories while breaking them down. Likewise- Hot Peppers boost metabolism, Lean meat and chicken breast, being high in protein, burn at least 30% of calories during digestion. But, what Fat burner supplements can do is - they help us in exceeding the results one can manage naturally from one's diet, so we can achieve our fat and weight loss goals quicker.
One of the most popular Fat burners is "Adiphene". Adiphene is a new fat burner on the market, designed as a safe and natural alternative to some prescription fat burners, which are not sold in general, because of their harmful side-effects. Among its natural ingredients are 5 stimulants-Bitter Orange, Chromium Picolinate, Guarana extract, Ginseng Panax root extract 10% and Cacao extract, 2 thermogenic boosters(Cinnamon extract 4% and Cayenne capsicum 40M HU/G).
It works very effectively by -
a: raising the core temperature of the body and thus accelerating the metabolism;
b: it has appetite suppressing qualities and also works as a fat binder, binding the fat in our diet so it can be passed through the body naturally.
Adiphene's 12 ingredients are of the finest quality, clinically proven and specifically selected to work best as a synergy, so one gets the powerful benefits of each of these individual ingredients to burn body fat. It ensures you absorb less fat, your hunger is kept in check and your body becomes a fat-burning furnace... even without diet or exercise!
Phen 375 is another popular, established and recognized fat burner, and is a very powerful appetite suppressant. It contains ingredients such as L-Carnitine and Chromium Picolinate which help promote a weight loss of between 3-5 lb a week by increasing metabolism, burning fat and reducing appetite.
