I'm sure there aren't many people in this world who enjoy spending their afternoons at the doctor's office. I'm not one of them. Paying for medical services these days isn't cheap, and I'd much rather spend my hard-earned money elsewhere. Besides, why would I pay someone to deliver bad news when I can diagnose myself online at no charge, without a wait? All I have to do is enter my symptoms, myself.
I've always considered myself a healthy person. I don't have any chronic diseases, I have all of my necessary vaccines... and I hardly ever get the flu. Apparently, all these years I've been wrong. I've ignored my symptoms, and the clear signs of dozens of disorders the Internet informed me of, and it's all thanks to online diagnostic tools. I now know that I have Paranasal Sinus Cancer, even though my doctor assures me that I'm just allergic to dust. A number of symptom search engine sites confirmed it, forcing me to wonder how qualified this doctor is? I'm also HIV positive, I found out after I cut my finger at a nail salon, and later it took me ten days to get over a simple cold. On top of that, I recently diagnosed myself with breast cancer while showering. I, of course, ran immediately to my computer to confirm all of my discovered symptoms. I have it.
It goes without saying that my hobby of self-diagnosing extends throughout my entire family. I've already discovered that my husband suffers from several types of hepatitis. Also, sadly, my dog is deathly sick. Yes, be relieved that Pet diagnostic tools do, in fact, exist. I've examined him, and have diagnosed him with Lyme disease, an ear infection and arthritis. Unfortunately, the vet didn't confirm my suspicions, saying the dog is perfectly fine. Maybe it's time for a new vet...
The more time I spend online, the more diseases I discover. So, if you try to do the same thing, get ready for a surprise-because you aren't as healthy as you think. Search "headache and rash," I'm sure the longer you browse, the more convinced you'll be that you have Lupus. I know I have it.
A month ago, I felt really sick, but for the first time in my life, I didn't check online. Not for lack of trying of course, the Internet was out. My husband refused to express any sympathy, after I had diagnosed myself with five different types of cancer the week before. He never believes when I'm sick anymore, and I can't figure out why? Despite my worst expectations, my queasiness subsided and I haven't had any symptoms since.
My piece of advice to you: do not search for symptoms on the Internet. Not only is each condition dependent upon the individual, but there's a 95% chance you'll end up with some type of cancer. Go see a specialist, or contact a medical expert. So stop searching the web for quick, easy, medical advice - as it's probably wrong.
Frantically researching the reason for your next headache isn't going to fix the problem. You'll just wind up with Cyberchondria (an anxiety disorder where you think you're sick from attempting to diagnose yourself online). I know I have it.
